THE PRINT

In the late 1940s Henri Matisse embarked on a brilliant last chapter in his storied career turning almost exclusively to cut paper as his primary medium, and scissors as his chief implement, introducing a radically new art form that came to be called a cut-out. Matisse would cut painted sheets into forms of varying shapes and sizes - from the vegetal to the abstract - which he then arranged into lively compositions, striking for their play with colour and contrast and their economy of means.

Matisse exhibition posters are a perennially stylish option that will afford a timeless elegance and sophistication to any setting. The ink blue hue used for the Blue Nude II figure that forms the centrepiece of this design truly is stunning and complements the black typography and tan background beautifully. This versatile artwork can be displayed anywhere in the home to great effect and will work wonderfully in any interior from mid-century modern though to Scandinavian minimalism.

This gallery quality giclée art print has been produced on luxurious heavy weight art paper using archival quality inks resulting in a superior print with pin-sharp detail, rich vivid colours and unparalleled durability.

THE ARTIST

The French painter Henri Matisse was one of the great initiators of the modern art movement, which uses the combination of bold primary colours and free, simple forms. He was also the most outstanding personality of the first revolution in twentieth century art—Fauvism (style of art that uses colour and sometimes distorted forms to convey its message).
